The short version: Tyze does not sell personal information, show advertising, or track you across other companies' apps and websites. Calendar titles and Screen Time app selections stay on your device. You can delete your Tyze account and synced data from inside the app.
1. Scope and responsibility
This Privacy Policy applies to the Tyze iOS application, the website at tyze.app, and related support communications. In this policy, "Tyze," "we," "us," and "our" refer to Tyze and its independent developer, Jongbin Lee.
Tyze is responsible for the personal information described in this policy. Questions, access requests, and privacy complaints can be sent to privacy@tyze.app.
2. Information we collect
We collect only the information needed to provide the features you choose, keep your account synchronized, support subscriptions, and protect the service. Some fields are optional.
| Category | Examples | Why it is used |
|---|---|---|
| Account and profile | Apple account identifier, email address or Apple private relay address, Tyze user ID, display name, handle, profile photo, timezone, and week-start preference | Sign-in, account security, synchronization, profile display, and friend discovery |
| Optional onboarding answers | Name, age range, occupation, interests, and reasons for using Tyze | Personalize suggestions and understand how people intend to use the product. Questions can be skipped. |
| Goals and activity | Goal names and categories, targets, periods, session timestamps, duration or quantity, focus rating and score, pauses, time away from a session, and whether a session was protected | Calculate progress, focused time, history, streaks, and your personal Performance Score |
| Saved places | A label, latitude, longitude, radius, and linked category for a place you deliberately save | Offer an optional arrival reminder. Tyze does not store a continuous location history. |
| Social and accountability | Friend requests, connections, shared goal progress, group membership, symbolic consequences, group outcomes, and social notification history | Provide friend connections, group stakes, standings, history, and relevant notifications |
| Subscription information | Product identifier, purchase history, entitlement status, expiration date, and a pseudonymous Tyze user ID | Process, restore, and verify Tyze Premium access. We do not receive full payment card details. |
| Device and service information | APNs push token, platform, app and operating system information, request timestamps, IP address in provider logs, and basic error or security records | Deliver social notifications, operate the service, prevent abuse, troubleshoot, and keep systems secure |
| Support communications | Your email address and the content of messages you send us | Respond to requests and resolve problems |
Information from Apple
Tyze uses Sign in with Apple. Apple supplies a stable account identifier and, depending on your choices, may supply your name and email address. If you choose Hide My Email, we receive Apple's private relay address instead of your personal email address. Apple also processes App Store purchases and supplies transaction information needed to verify your subscription.
3. Information that stays on your device
Several optional features are deliberately designed to work locally:
- Calendar reminders: Tyze reads event titles for the next seven days and compares them with keywords you choose. Event titles and calendar contents are not uploaded or stored by Tyze.
- Screen Time selections: Apple provides opaque, device-specific tokens for apps, categories, or websites you choose. The selections and token names are not uploaded. When an optional auto-tracked goal reaches a 15 minute threshold, Tyze can create a generic session record that syncs like another session. Apple does not give Tyze exact minute-by-minute use or the identity of an app behind an opaque token.
- App blocking selections: The apps or categories you choose to block until a goal is met remain on your device.
- Focus status: Tyze can learn whether an iOS Focus is active during a session. It does not learn which Focus mode is active.
- Personal reminder settings: Calendar keywords, reminder timing, quiet hours, and many notification preferences are stored locally.
The local app database also provides offline access. Synced categories of information are copied to our service when you sign in and a connection is available.
4. How we use information
We use personal information to:
- create, secure, and maintain your account;
- synchronize your goals, sessions, history, and preferences;
- calculate live goal progress and personal insights;
- provide friend discovery, shared progress, and group stakes;
- send notifications you enable or that relate to social activity;
- process and restore subscriptions and prevent purchase fraud;
- respond to support and privacy requests;
- detect misuse, protect users, and maintain service security;
- comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service; and
- improve Tyze using feedback and aggregated product understanding.
We do not use your information for third-party advertising. We do not sell or rent personal information. We do not use data from Tyze to track you across apps or websites owned by other companies.
6. Retention and deletion
We retain account information and synced product data while your account is active and as needed to provide the service. Social notification history is limited in the app feed, while underlying records may remain until account deletion or ordinary operational cleanup.
Removing a goal or session hides it from normal views and calculations. A limited deletion marker may remain so synchronization does not restore the item on another device. Deleting your account removes your active authentication record and associated profile, goals, sessions, locations, friendships, groups, push tokens, and entitlement mirror from our active database. Some information may remain temporarily in encrypted backups, provider logs, fraud-prevention records, or records we must retain by law, then be deleted or de-identified under applicable retention schedules.
You can delete your account in Tyze by opening Profile, choosing Delete account, and confirming. This action cannot be undone. Deleting Tyze or signing out does not by itself delete your account. See Privacy Choices for other request options.
7. Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- know whether we hold personal information about you;
- request access to or a copy of that information;
- correct inaccurate or incomplete information;
- request deletion, subject to lawful exceptions;
- withdraw consent for optional processing; and
- complain to your local privacy or data protection authority.
You can edit your name, handle, profile photo, goals, and many settings in the app. You can control Calendar, Location, Notifications, Focus, and Family Controls permissions in iOS Settings. Turning off a permission stops the related feature but does not automatically delete previously synced records, such as a saved place. Delete those records in Tyze or contact us.
To make a request, email privacy@tyze.app. We may ask for information reasonably necessary to verify that the request belongs to the account. We will not discriminate against you for exercising a privacy right.
8. Security and international processing
Tyze uses measures designed to protect personal information, including Sign in with Apple, encrypted network connections, device keychain storage for sessions, account-scoped database rules, and access controls. No service can guarantee absolute security. Keep your Apple account and device secure, and contact us promptly if you believe your Tyze account has been compromised.
Tyze and its providers may process information in Canada, the United States, and other countries where providers operate. Privacy laws in those places may differ from those in your home jurisdiction. We use service providers and safeguards intended to protect information during those transfers.
9. Children
Tyze is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from a child under 13. If you are under the age of majority where you live, use Tyze only with permission from a parent or legal guardian. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information, contact us so we can investigate and delete it.
10. Changes and contact
We may update this policy as Tyze changes or legal requirements evolve. The effective date at the top shows when the current version began. If a change materially affects how we use personal information, we will provide reasonable notice in the app, on this website, or by another appropriate method before the change takes effect.
