Privacy Policy

This policy explains how Tyze handles information in the iPhone app, Mac app, and on this website. It distinguishes information that stays on your device from information that syncs to our service.

Effective September 8, 2026

The short version: Tyze does not show advertising inside the app. Website ad measurement is optional and stays off until you allow it. Calendar titles and Screen Time app selections stay on your iPhone. Mac website rules and active hostnames stay on your Mac. You can delete your Tyze account and synced data from inside the app.

1. Scope and responsibility

This Privacy Policy applies to the Tyze iOS and macOS applications, the website at tyze.app, and related support communications. In this policy, "Tyze," "we," "us," and "our" refer to Tyze and its independent developer, Jongbin Lee.

Tyze is responsible for the personal information described in this policy. Questions, access requests, and privacy complaints can be sent to privacy@tyze.app.

2. Information we collect

If you request a Mac download link by email, we use the address you provide to send that requested message through Resend. This does not enroll you in marketing emails or send your address to Meta. Cloudflare Turnstile checks the form for automated abuse and processes browser and network information for that purpose. Our email provider processes the recipient address and delivery records; we do not add the address to a mailing list or Tyze account through this form.

We collect only the information needed to provide the features you choose, keep your account synchronized, support subscriptions, and protect the service. Some fields are optional.

Information from Apple

Tyze uses Sign in with Apple. Apple supplies a stable account identifier and, depending on your choices, may supply your name and email address. If you choose Hide My Email, we receive Apple's private relay address instead of your personal email address. Apple also processes App Store purchases and supplies transaction information needed to verify your subscription.

3. Information that stays on your device

Several optional features are deliberately designed to work locally:

  • Calendar reminders: Tyze reads event titles for the next seven days and compares them with keywords you choose. Event titles and calendar contents are not uploaded or stored by Tyze.
  • Screen Time selections: Apple provides opaque, device-specific tokens for apps, categories, or websites you choose. The selections and token names are not uploaded. When an optional auto-tracked goal reaches a 15 minute threshold, Tyze can create a generic session record that syncs like another session. Apple does not give Tyze exact minute-by-minute use or the identity of an app behind an opaque token.
  • Focus-session activity: While a focus timer runs, Tyze can keep device-local whole-minute checkpoints of aggregate foreground activity while Tyze is in the background. These checkpoints contain no app identity and are removed after the session. The resulting aggregate time and the distracted time you confirm may be saved with the session and synced.
  • App blocking selections: The reward apps and session distractions you choose remain on your device.
  • Focus status: Tyze can learn whether an iOS Focus is active during a session. It does not learn which Focus mode is active.
  • Mac activity focus rules: During a Mac focus session, Tyze can use macOS Automation to read the active browser address and can identify the foreground application. Optional Safari and Chromium extensions can add live media and page-engagement signals through a private connection on your computer. Observed addresses, page paths, application names, local activity summaries, and the browser activity timeline remain on that Mac. Tyze does not upload screenshots, keystrokes, page titles, searches, or browsing history. The focus rules you create, such as a domain or app you connect to a goal, may sync to your Tyze account so your setup follows you. Completed session totals and focus results may also sync.
  • Cross-device timer coordination: When you are signed in, Tyze can briefly store an active session identifier, device identifier and type, optional goal and category identifiers, start time, heartbeat time, and expiry time. This prevents overlapping live timers on your iPhone and Mac. The record is removed when the session ends or expires shortly after heartbeats stop. It contains no website or application activity.
  • Personal reminder settings: Calendar keywords, reminder timing, quiet hours, and many notification preferences are stored locally.

Local app storage also provides offline access. Synced categories of information are copied to our service when you sign in and a connection is available.

4. How we use information

We use personal information to:

  • create, secure, and maintain your account;
  • synchronize your goals, sessions, history, and preferences;
  • calculate live goal progress and personal insights;
  • provide friend discovery, shared progress, and group stakes;
  • send notifications you enable or that relate to social activity;
  • process and restore subscriptions and prevent purchase fraud;
  • respond to support and privacy requests;
  • detect misuse, protect users, and maintain service security;
  • comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service; and
  • improve Tyze using feedback and aggregated product understanding.

We do not send your goal names, focus history, selected apps or observed browsing activity to advertising services. Optional website ad measurement is described below.

5. Sharing and disclosure

People you choose to connect with

Your display name, handle, and profile photo may appear in search, friend requests, connections, and groups. Accepted friends can see progress for goals you make shareable. Group members can see the information needed for that group, including member profiles, attached goals, progress, outcomes, and the symbolic consequence. Do not put sensitive personal information in profile, goal, or group text.

Service providers

We use providers that process information for us under their own contractual and privacy obligations:

  • Apple: Sign in with Apple, App Store purchases, operating system permissions, and Apple Push Notification service.
  • Supabase: authentication, hosted database, storage, synchronization, and server functions.
  • RevenueCat: subscription receipt validation, entitlement management, and purchase analytics. Tyze sends a pseudonymous account UUID, not your email address, as the RevenueCat App User ID.
  • Vercel: hosting and delivery of tyze.app, including ordinary network and security logs for website requests.

We expect providers that receive personal information to protect it consistently with this policy and applicable law. Their independent services are also governed by their privacy notices.

Optional website ad measurement

If you allow measurement and request or copy a Mac download link after clicking an ad, the link can carry an encrypted reference to that ad click for up to seven days. When you open it on another device, you can choose whether to remember that reference there. If you also allow purchase measurement at checkout, it can connect a verified payment to the earlier ad click. It does not contain your email, payment details or account credentials. Turning off measurement clears the reference on the current browser; links already copied or emailed expire after seven days and still require a choice when opened on another device.

If you allow ad measurement, we use the Meta Pixel to measure public website visits, Mac product-page views and Mac download clicks, and help measure and improve our advertising. Meta can receive browser identifiers such as _fbp and _fbc cookies, ad click information, visited website URLs, IP address and browser information, and may associate these with your Meta account. A download click does not tell us whether you installed the app or purchased a subscription.

We do not enable this website integration on sign-in or payment-return pages, or send account details through advanced matching. Your choice is stored in this browser for up to 180 days. Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track keep measurement off. You can withdraw permission through Privacy Choices. Withdrawal stops future events and clears the Meta cookies we can access, but does not undo information already received by Meta. See Meta's Privacy Policy for its handling of information.

When opening checkout from a compatible Mac version, you can also choose whether to measure that purchase. If allowed and browser matching identifiers are available, Tyze stores a signed, account-bound measurement context in RevenueCat for that checkout, valid for one hour. After RevenueCat confirms a real payment, our server can send Meta the payment amount and currency, a transaction-derived event identifier, browser matching identifiers and browser information. This path excludes App Store purchases, free trials, ordinary renewals and refunds. We recheck the saved permission before delivery. Privacy Choices can clear permission for the recent checkout opened in this browser. It cannot retract events already delivered.

Legal and business disclosures

We may disclose information when reasonably necessary to comply with law, respond to valid legal process, protect the rights and safety of users or others, investigate fraud or abuse, or complete a merger, financing, acquisition, or transfer of the Tyze service. Where permitted, we will take reasonable steps to notify affected users of a material ownership change.

6. Retention and deletion

We retain account information and synced product data while your account is active and as needed to provide the service. Social notification history is limited in the app feed, while underlying records may remain until account deletion or ordinary operational cleanup.

Removing a goal hides it from normal goal views, but its completed results remain in historical streak and Performance Score calculations so deleting a goal cannot rewrite the past. Removing an individual session excludes that session from progress and historical calculations. A limited deletion marker may remain so synchronization does not restore an item on another device. Deleting your account removes your active authentication record and associated profile, goals, sessions, locations, friendships, groups, push tokens, and entitlement mirror from our active database. Some information may remain temporarily in encrypted backups, provider logs, fraud-prevention records, or records we must retain by law, then be deleted or de-identified under applicable retention schedules.

You can delete your account in Tyze by opening Profile, choosing Delete account, and confirming. This action cannot be undone. Deleting Tyze or signing out does not by itself delete your account. See Privacy Choices for other request options.

7. Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

  • know whether we hold personal information about you;
  • request access to or a copy of that information;
  • correct inaccurate or incomplete information;
  • request deletion, subject to lawful exceptions;
  • withdraw consent for optional processing; and
  • complain to your local privacy or data protection authority.

You can edit your name, handle, profile photo, goals, and many settings in the app. You can control Calendar, Location, Notifications, Focus, and Family Controls permissions in iOS Settings. Turning off a permission stops the related feature but does not automatically delete previously synced records, such as a saved place. Delete those records in Tyze or contact us.

To make a request, email privacy@tyze.app. We may ask for information reasonably necessary to verify that the request belongs to the account. We will not discriminate against you for exercising a privacy right.

8. Security and international processing

Tyze uses measures designed to protect personal information, including Sign in with Apple, encrypted network connections, device keychain storage for sessions, account-scoped database rules, and access controls. No service can guarantee absolute security. Keep your Apple account and device secure, and contact us promptly if you believe your Tyze account has been compromised.

Tyze and its providers may process information in Canada, the United States, and other countries where providers operate. Privacy laws in those places may differ from those in your home jurisdiction. We use service providers and safeguards intended to protect information during those transfers.

9. Children

Tyze is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from a child under 13. If you are under the age of majority where you live, use Tyze only with permission from a parent or legal guardian. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information, contact us so we can investigate and delete it.

10. Changes and contact

We may update this policy as Tyze changes or legal requirements evolve. The effective date at the top shows when the current version began. If a change materially affects how we use personal information, we will provide reasonable notice in the app, on this website, or by another appropriate method before the change takes effect.
